Melissa Cigelske, M.Ed.
Melissa is a 3rd generation Arizona Native. She started her career in education in 2005. Before that, Melissa had a long history working in government, including the Arizona Attorney General's Office, Consumer Fraud Division, the Arizona Department of Gaming as an Investigator, and the Arizona Supreme Court as a Fiduciary Investigator. She left the Supreme Court to become a full-time caregiver to her mother after she had a stroke.
Melissa is a K-8 Arizona Certified Teacher, holds an SEI Endorsement, is a Dyslexia Specialist, a Barton Tutor, is trained in Foundations in Sound and Handwriting Without Tears. She received her Masters in Education from Northern Arizona University and her Bachelor's in Administration of Justice from Arizona State University.
Melissa worked as an Educator in Public Education for 14 years, the last five years as a Special Education Service Coordinator. As a Service Coordinator, Melissa saw first hand the lack of appropriate accommodations and services offered to dyslexic students. Many students were falling through the cracks of the educational system. That is when she decided to do more to help these students and pursued a career in Dyslexia. She enjoys sharing information about Dyslexia with fellow Educators. Melissa's passion is advocating for students who have reading difficulties and showing them that learning can be fun.
